Nigeria Mauls Brazil to Reach her First-Ever FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Final
History was made at the Mohammed IV football complex in Moroccan where the flamingos of Nigeria displaced the Seleção of Brazil 3-1 to qualify for her maiden u17 women’s world cup final in an emphatic fashion.
Going into this fixture, the Brazillans were tagged favorites due their prolific nature in front of goal having scored a total of seventeen goals in six games leaving Nigeria with a hectic task to neutralize the attacking threats of the south Americans
From the blast of the whistle, Nigeria dominated proceedings leaving the Brazilians with a little amount of ball possession to feed on while maintaining composure and discipline in the backline.
Oluwakemi, Oluebube and Joseph had various opportunities to put the Africans in front but their decision making at the final third was not good enough leaving the scoreline level at halftime.

The route started in the 56th minute when Queen Joseph got past her marker and struck from close range to give Nigeria the lead.
Nigeria got her second through Awawu Bashiru in the 70th minute as she took advantage of a cleared ball from a corner and fired a blistering shot from outside the box to double Nigeria’s lead.
Awawu Bashiru’s brace in the 79th minute sealed the win for Hakeem Busari’s side while keeping the game out of reach for the Brazillans.
Greise Kelly pulled one back for her side in the 89th minute but it was too late to stage a comeback.
This win also affirms Nigeria’s unwavering dominance in African women’s football as the Flamingos have now become the first ever African team to play in a FIFA u17 women’s world cup final.

The West Africans who have now surpassed her feat in 2023 will go head to head against Asian giants Japan on Sunday for a chance to clinch the trophy and further etch her name in the history books.
