Coach Asaph Mwebaze and Mbale Heroes Part Ways by Mutual Consent
1 min readFUFA Big League side Mbale Heroes and head coach Asaph Mwebaze have agreed to terminate their partnership prematurely by mutual consent on Tuesday, April 2.
Mwebaze took to his social media platform to announce the development, expressing his delight in sharing a great experience in Mbale.
“Mbale Heroes FC and I have mutually agreed to part ways. It has been a great experience, with high expectations. The club is in a healthy position to achieve promotion,” Mwebaze posted.
The CAF B tactician assumed the reins at the two-time Uganda Cup winners in September 2023, with the primary task of guiding the club back to top-flight football after securing promotion from the regional league last season.
He brought a wealth of experience to Mbale Heroes, having previously coached Soltilo Bright Stars, Maroons, Onduparaka, and Nyamityobora FC.
During his tenure at Maroons, he made significant history, notably guiding the Prison Warders to Uganda Premier League promotion three times, each time as champions of the Big League (2007, 2010, and 2015).
At Mbale Heroes, he faced a challenging period in the second round of the 2023/24 campaign, managing just one point in the last three matches.
He departs “The Surgeons” third in the standings with 35 points from 20 Big League matches, just five points shy of table-toppers Police FC.
However, the club has yet to release an official statement regarding the way forward.
