2 min readThe African Football governing body CAF still hasn’t decided on which venue will host the CAF Champions League Final.
In an Official web post on the CAF website www.cafonline.com, CAF announced that Godswill Akpabio International Stadium (Nigeria) will host the 2021/22 TotalEnergies Confederation Cup Final on Friday 20th May.
But there is no communication or statement CAF has released on which Country or Stadium to host the CAF Champions League Final.
Unconfirmed sources were reporting Senegal or Morocco to be the hosts but not stating the cities.
Sources report that Senegal withdrew it’s bid to host the Final.
Morocco’s Mohammed V Stadium – Casablanca hosted the final in 2021.
The decision of Morocco hosting the finals wasn’t welcomed by Al Ahly since they are likely to face Wydad in the Finals.
The 10 time African Champions Al Ahly simply don’t want the Final to be played in any of these countries; Angola, Algeria, Morocco or Egypt.
Al Ahly President Mr. Mahmoud El Khatib called an urgent emergency meeting on Sunday concerning the decision to award Morocco rights to host the Final for two consecutive years.
Al-Ahly has now asked the Egyptian FA to address CAF to organize the final in Egypt after Senegal’s withdrawal.
The 2021/22 CAF Champions League final is set to be played on 30 May 2022.
