Tanzania’s Simba Queens FC have become the first team to qualify to the semi finals of the CECAFA Zone TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League 2022.
She Corporate lost 2-0 in a Group B match played at the Azam Complex, Chamazi on Wednesday.
Simba Queens took the lead after 27 minutes through Vivian Aquino Corazone. The Kenyan defender scored from a free kick outside of the box with the sharks custodian Daphine Nyayenga failing to get firm grip of the shot.
Both sides came close to scoring at the stroke of half-time with Phiona Nabbumba coming close to leveling the score, but also missed the target.
Pambani Kuzoya scored Simba Queens’ second with a fine finish after She Corporate defenders and goalkeeper failed to clear away a ball in the box.
Simba Queens are currently top of the table in Group B on 6 points. Meanwhile She Corporate are second with 3 points.
Djibouti’s Garde Republicaine FC and Yei Joint Stars of South Sudan both have no points, with a goal difference of -6 after losing their home games 6-0 against Simba Queens and She Corporates respectively.
In Group A, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia humiliated Warriors Queens FC 9-0 in their opening fixture, with Medina Awol and Loza Abera scoring a hattrick a piece. In the other game, AS Kigali Women FC came from a goal down to defeat Fofila PF as Zawadi Usanase scored a brace for the Rwandan side.
