CECAFA Rankings: Uganda Holds Firm Amidst FIFA World Cup Qualifiers
Uganda maintains its leading position in the CECAFA region, securing the 92nd spot in the latest FIFA rankings released on December 21, 2023, with 1245.08 points.
Despite a recent defeat to Guinea in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, Uganda remains the top-ranked team.
Following closely, Kenya holds the second position in the region and ranks 110th globally with 1181.92 points, while Tanzania, set to participate in AFCON 2023, is third in the CECAFA Zone and 121st worldwide with 1155.19 points.
Other CECAFA Zone rankings include Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Djibouti, and Somalia, with Eritrea not ranked due to limited tournament participation.
Argentina, the 2022 World Cup winners, lead the global rankings with 1855.2 points, and Senegal claims the top spot for Africa in 20th position.
