Express Fc sack James Odoch.
Express FC has made the decision to part ways with their entire technical team, headed by James Odoch, in the wake of a disappointing 1-1 draw against league leaders BUL FC at Wankulukuku.
The result, despite BUL playing with two men down in the last 20 minutes due to red cards for Benon Tahomera and Walter Ochora, proved to be a significant letdown for the Red Eagles.
James Odoch, who took charge in February of the previous year and secured a permanent contract in July, is being relieved of his duties following a series of unsatisfactory performances.
Express FC has struggled to secure a victory in their last five games, amassing only three points out of a possible 15 in that period. As of now, they find themselves in the seventh position in the league standings with 13 points.
However, it’s important to note that Odoch may not be entirely to blame for the team’s struggles. Express FC maintained a relatively quiet presence in the transfer market, bringing in players like Seif Batte, Alpha Ssali, Emmanuel Wasswa, Isaac Wagoina, Andrew Kawooya, and Ramzy Kawooya. The team also experienced a significant departure of key players from the previous season, including their top scorer, Allan Kayiwa.
Express FC becomes the third team, following KCCA and URA FC, to replace a head coach this season. While the pressure at the other two clubs is understandable, the decision to sack Express’s coach may raise questions about the broader challenges the team is facing. Odoch himself acknowledged after the draw against BUL, “It’s not the result we wanted, but the soggy pitch prevented us from executing what we trained.”
As the club navigates this transition, there will likely be more developments to follow.
