FUFA hands over joint AFCON bid to government

The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has today morning handed over the East Africa ‘PAMOJA AFCON 2027’ bid to the government of Uganda through the State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang. FUFA team was led by the FUFA President Moses Magogo.

Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania have expressed interest to host the biggest football tournament on the African continent. Incase they succeed, this will be the first time in the history of the cup tournament to be played in the East African region.

Kenya FA already briefed President William Ruto about their intention to join Uganda and Tanzania in hosting the cup tournament.

The idea to host the AFCON in the region was birthed when Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Burundi all qualified the 2019 edition.

CAF has set 23 May 2023 as the deadline for interested countries to present their bids to host the cup.
