Kawempe Muslim 0- 1 Lady Doves
Riticia Nabbosa’s ferocious strike at the stroke of half time has seen her team seal a place in the finals of the 2020/21 FUFA Women Super League.
Lady doves become the first team to reach the finals after an impressive display against record champions Kawempe Muslim in the playoffs on Monday at FUFA technical center Njeru.
Fazila Ikwaput’s collision with Kawempe Samalie Nakacwa saw her attain a knee injury and was later taken off the pitch.
This seemed to be a major setback for her team as her appearance in this match was very crucial having scored the most number of goals in the tourney.
However this did not sturtle the team as they kept their determination to go past Kawempe Muslim.
Nabbosa’s goal came in the 46th minute giving Lady Doves a 1-0 lead over Kawempe Muslim.
Kawempe Muslim returned with determination in the second half to try and level the game with several attempts at a goal from Hadijja Nandago and Juliet Nalukenge.
However all these efforts were futile when Nandago failed to put the ball past goal keeper Daizy Nakaziro and Nalukenge’s effort rattled the woodwork hence denying them an equaliser.
Lady Doves defended tirelessly to maintain their lead hence booking a slot in the finals slated for Wednesday 5th May 2021.
This is the second time for Lady Doves to reach the finals after their first attempt in the 2019 Elite League at Lugogo where they lost to UCU Lady Cardinals 2-0
Lady Doves will face the winner between UCU Lady Cardinals and Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga.
Nabbosa who scored the important goal of the match said she asked the goal from God and it happened.
“I’m happy that the goal has helped my team to progress to the final.” She said
