Manchester City out class the Hammers.

1 min read

Despite having most of the ball as expected, The Hammers got the better opportunity that befell Benrahma but failed to drag his ball into his path. The citizens slowly found traction as they managed to threaten Fabianski’s goal however from a long way out.

But as snow started to pile in the pitch, David Moyes’ men found it hard to adapt as Man City capitalised on Masuaku’s inability to track back with IlLay Gundogan opened the scoring ending a spectacular team goal. The Citizens finished the half on the front foot with Gabriel Jesus almost doubling the lead if not for Johnson’s goal line clearance.

The Second half followed the same precedent with the Hammers not getting a foot hold in the game as they couldn’t create any clear cut opportunities with the restless Citizens claiming all second balls. Things seemed to get worse with Aaron Cresswell joining Ogbonna on the injury list as another goal line clearance left him clashing with the post.

Inspite of Declan Rice’s sole efforts trying to push the team forward, City just outclassed the Hammers who tried to stay in the match for as long as possible but a substitute goal from Fernandinho to put the nail in the coffin in the dying stages of the game. A final stunner by Manuel Lanzini though left Ederson puzzled.

Man of the match.

IlLay Gundogan.
