More misery for SC Villa as Koukouras side fall to defeat at Onduparaka FC
Onduparaka FC condemned SC Villa to their 11th loss of the season as the hosts walked away with maximum points, courtesy of skipper Muhammad Shaban’s first half screamer.
The hosts dominated in the first 15 minutes, pushing Villa deep into their 18-yard box. However, they failed to create the much needed goal-scoring opportunities.
Onduparaka’s first real chance came in the 13th minute after Agu failed to find the target from a well-worked cross by Okech.
The visitors slowly started finding their way in the game as the half hour approached with Muhindo trying to get closer to [Onduparaka FC] custodian Mathias Muwanga with every opportunity he gets.
The caterpillars came close again through young star Rogers who shot from far only to find the side net.
Muhammad Shaban broke the deadlock in the 39th minute with a cracking volley from the edge of the box, again after a long cross from Rogers was headed back right at the skipper.
He (Shaban) almost doubled the lead two minutes later. But he’s short went above the cross.
Head coach Petros Koukouras made changes to his side at half time. The hero of the Uganda Cup, goalkeeper Yiga Joseph, together with Saddam Juma came on for Meddie Kibirige and Davis Ssekajja respectively.
Shortly, Shaban hit the right-top bar after a well-worked ground ball from winger Mansour Safi.
The home side made two substitutions after the break. Serunjoji and Jarieko came in for Mansoor Safi and Norman ojik.
The visitors created a couple of chances in the second half, with nothing to smile for.
The win propels the caterpillars to 30 points in 25 games. SC Villa have 25 points in 25 games.
