2 min readNile Special hosted the Rugby Cranes 7s teams for dinner this evening at Kabira country club in Kampala where both the men’s and women’s teams were awarded for their contribution at the recently concluded Africa rugby 7s.
Uganda men’s team was crowned champions of the continent after a beautiful display in front of thousands of fans in Kampala qualifying for the World Cup and Common Wealth games.
The Lady Rugby Cranes were fourth of nine teams at a highly competitive Africa women’s 7s held in Tunisia.
The Rugby Cranes and Lady Rugby Cranes received UGX58 million and UGX10 million respectively for coming 1st and 4th respectively in the tournaments held in Uganda and Tunisia last month.
A new sponsorship/partnership of a whooping UGX9.8 billion from Nile Special to the Uganda Rugby Union for a period of 3-4 years was also announced at the dinner.
“Our partnership with Uganda Rugby has been a journey, not a destination. The difference is that a person that sets out to enjoy the journey will take pleasure in everything along the way, unlike one that simply cannot wait to get to the destination.” Nile special MD, David Valencia said at the dinner.

The 2022 Nile special rugby season comes to an end this Saturday as league leaders Heathens await to be crowned champions.
Heathens sealed this season’s title after their win against Buffaloes last weekend in the Kyadondo derby that ended 32-11.
Heathens play their Lugogo rivals Kobs at Legends at 4pm this Saturday and will be crowned champions after the game, regardless of the results.
