RS Berkane Secures Narrow Victory over Mutyaba’s Zamalek in CAF Confederation Cup Final First Leg.
RS Berkane of Morocco will carry a one-goal advantage into the CAF Confederation Cup Final second leg next weekend. Berkane secured a 2-1 victory on Sunday at the Berkane Municipal Stadium in the opening leg of the two-legged encounter.
The Moroccan team asserted dominance early, seizing control of the match and breaking the deadlock in the 13th minute when Captain Issoufou Dayo converted a penalty. Sending the home crowd into excitement zone.
Before the first half drew to a close, Adil Tahif doubled RS Berkane’s lead with a goal in the 30th minute from a curled corner by Mohamed El Morabit , solidifying their position in the match and ensuring the two-time champions head to Cairo with a slender lead for what promises to be a thrilling match in the return leg.
However, early in the second half, in the 46th minute, Seif Al Jazziri managed to score a consolation goal for the Zamalek to give them more hope to overturn the results. The White Knights will prepare to use their home advantage to get the best out of the return leg.
The return leg is set to take place a week later at the Cairo International Stadium, Zamalek will host the match on Sunday, May 19th.
