Uganda’s U-18 Girls Basketball team, the Junior Gazelles, eased past Tanzania to win 2022 FIBA Afrobasket Zone V Qualifiers.
The Junior Gazelles will represent Uganda in the FIBA Africa U-18 Championship slated for August in Madagascar.
The U-18 Gazelles took the lead at half time with 32 points against Tanzania’s 30. The girls held on until the last quarter to beat Tanzania 63-43 to book their place in the FIBA Africa U-18 Championship in Madagascar which will kick off in August.
The Journey
The Junior Gazelles tipped off their tournament with a win against Rwanda. They led at half time with 24 points before dominating the remaining quarters to lead Rwanda by 21 points in a game that ended 71-50 in favor of Uganda.
Shilah Lumunu scored a double with 14 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists.
The U-18 FIBA Afrobasket Zone V Preliminaries Tipped off on Monday 13 June 2022 at the Lugogo Indoor stadium.
