Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) overcame a resilient UPDF side to secure a 2-1 win at Arena of Visions-Bombo.
Stephen Mukwala was the man to watch as the striker scored the winner late in the second half. The goal poacher has now scored 15 goals in the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League season.
There were no clear cut chances from either side after fifteen minutes albeit the tax collectors created more.
The home side were forced into an early change when Birungi Micheal came in for injured Sseruyidde.
URA had a clear chance through Mukwala Steven who met goalkeeper Alionzi Nafian’s ball but couldn’t quite have enough touch on it to beat the UPDF keeper.
The striker finally made a breakthrough putting URA in front with five minutes to half time.
Mukwala completed his brace and URA’s second after rocketing the ball into the back of the net late in the second half after immense pressure.
The tax collectors had another blow after Michael Birungi got injured once again, and was replaced by Brian Nkuubi.
The result leaves URA one point behind table leaders Express who thrashed Kitara 4-0 on Friday. The tax collectors will next travel to play Busoga United.
UPDF Fc are 10th on the table and the army side next travel to Bombo Military Barrack to play SC Villa in their next league game.
