Uganda 2-0 Rwanda: Crested Cranes Off To a Perfect Start In CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Crested Cranes kicked off their CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over neighbors Rwanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forward Fazila Ikwaput scored in either half to ensure the hosts made a perfect start to the prestigious tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ikwaput gave Uganda the lead in the 36th minute after tapping home to an empty net. Rwanda’s custodian Itangishaka had failed to clear her lines from a defense splitting pass from Asia Nakibuula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ikwaput added his second later after the forward picked the ball from out wide and drilled past the opponent’s defense to score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda and Burundi are the two sides that have picked maximum points on Day 1. The cranes are in second place on 3 points, same as Burundi who defeated Djibouti in the early kick-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
