Uganda’s Team for the ICC Global T20 World Cup Qualifiers Named<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda Cricket Association has named the final 14-man squad that will be representing Uganda at the ICC Men T20 World Cup Qualifiers that are scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe from Monday July 11, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selection team led by Nehal Bibodi, an Indian born Ugandan cricketer who featured for the national cricket team in Uganda’s Intercontinental Cup campaign in 2005 released their final squad today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The players will be led by 30 year-old captain Brian Masaba who features for Rwenzori Warriors. Another popular name is that of Simon Ssesazi who was named the Best Cricketer of the Month at the Real Star Sports Award on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The batman skipped competition from Ronak Patel (batman) and Kevin Awino (batwoman) to win the award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dinesh Nakrani, fresh from winning the 2021 Male Cricketer of the year as voted by Uganda Sports Personality Awards has also been summoned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cricket cranes who are managed by South African Head Coach Laurence Mahatlane have been placed in Group B alongside Netherlands, Papua New Guinea and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final 14<\/strong> Man Squad<\/strong>
Brian Masaba (captain), Simon Ssesazi, Ronak Patel, Dinesh Nakrani, Riazat Ali Shah, Bilal Hassun, Roger Mukasa, Juma Miyagi, Cosmas Kyewuta, Frank Nsubuga, Frank Akankwasa, Henry Ssenyondo, Kenneth Waiswa and Fred Achellam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda will kickoff their campaign against Hong Kong on Monday 11 July at 1:00 pm; the cricket cranes will then play Papua New Guinea the following day (on Tuesday) before wrapping matters on Thursday against Netherlands. All Group B games will be played at Bulawaya athletic club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup<\/strong>
The\u00a02022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup<\/strong>\u00a0is scheduled to be the eighth\u00a0ICC Men’s T20 World Cup<\/a>\u00a0tournament, scheduled to be played from October 16 to November 13 2022 in Australia.\u00a0Originally, the tournament was to be held in 2020, however, in July 2020, the\u00a0International Cricket Council<\/a>\u00a0(ICC) confirmed that the tournament had been postponed, due to the\u00a0COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>.\u00a0In August 2020, the ICC also confirmed that Australia would host the rearranged tournament in 2022,\u00a0with the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in India in 2021 as originally planned,\u00a0but was later moved to UAE and Oman.\u00a0On 21 January 2022, the ICC confirmed all the fixtures for the tournament.\u00a0Hosts\u00a0Australia<\/a>\u00a0are also the defending champions.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
