St.Mary’s Stadium Kitende has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host the World Cup Qualifier games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The announcement came in on Monday 3rd May when the body released a list of stadiums that will host the World Cup Qualifier games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This settles earlier reports that the country lacked a stadium that meets international standards to host the matches which had seen Uganda turn to neighbouring Tanzania in hopes of using their national stadium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uganda is now expected to use Kitende for its home games. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cranes first home game will be against Mali on June 12th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Uganda has used the same venue for their home games in their final two matches against South Sudan and Burkina Faso in the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after Namboole was sealed off as a COVID-19 center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team is looking at booking a slot in the World Cup finals for the first time in history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cranes will play alongside Mali, Rwanda, and Kenya in Group E of the qualifiers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In their first game, the cranes will take on Kenya at the Nyayo International stadium on June 8th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After six games, the group winner will go into the final qualifying phase that will have nine other group leaders. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
