Netball World Cup – She Cranes fall to Jamaica<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda endured their third World Cup loss against Jamaica when they were beaten 49-61 in a Pool G match at the Netball World Cup 2023 in Cape Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a disappointing result for the She Cranes who gave world champions New Zealand a freight on Day 2, losing by only 10 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda on the right foot, displaying their usual tenacity, but they faced fierce opposition from the Sunshine Girls. Defenders Shamera Stirling and Latanya Wilson managed to block Uganda’s attacking attempts and causing turnovers at crucial moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda had the most possession at halftime but couldn\u2019t convert them into points as Cholhok missed a numberl of attempts. Jamaica started picking up and raced to a 38-21 lead by the end of halftime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The She Cranes returned stronger in the third quarter. The mid-court players, Margret Baagala, created openings in Jamaica’s defence. Shooters Cholhok and Shadiah Nassanga comfortably converted these chances and this enabled the She Cranes to win the quarter 16-11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last 15 minutes were intense. Although the win was unlikely in the hands of the She Cranes, they claimed 61 per cent of the possession to share the spoils (12-12).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
