Uganda’s Rugby Africa 7s title defence ends unsuccessfully<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reigning African champions Uganda bowed out of the Rugby Africa Men\u2019s 7s 2023 tournament after losing to South Africa on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rugby Cranes lost 26 – 14 to the South Africans. Despite the loss, the team put up a great performance to stun hosts Zimbabwe 24 – 12 in the 3\/4th place playoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda managed a 3rd place finish in Harare, Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good news is that Uganda has qualified for both the Olympic Games Repechage and the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series, both to played in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda was placed in Pool C alongside Algeria, Burkina Faso, and hosts Zimbabwe, arguably the toughest group in the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Kenya defeated South Africa in the final to earn a direct ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
