Uganda sand cranes kick off their AFCON campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Uganda sand cranes kick off their 2021 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations campaign today against defending champions Senegal<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sand cranes welcome the hosts at Saly Beach Soccer stadium at 8.30 pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first Beach Soccer AFCON the sand cranes are participating in.

The tournament was due to take place in\u00a0Jinja\u00a0between 23 and 29 November 2020.\u00a0However, due to the\u00a0COVID-19 pandemic\u00a0and rising water levels on the shores of\u00a0Lake Victoria\u00a0affecting the host beach, Uganda withdrew from hosting. Senegal\u00a0were subsequently chosen as the new hosts,\u00a0with the tournament rescheduled to take place from 23 to 29 May 2021,\u00a0in the city of\u00a0Salt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a02021 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations<\/strong>\u00a0will be the fourth edition of the\u00a0Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations\u00a0(BSAFCON), the premier\u00a0beach soccer\u00a0championship in\u00a0Africa\u00a0contested by men’s national teams who are members of the\u00a0Confederation of African Football (CAF). Originally organised by\u00a0Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) under the title\u00a0FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup CAF qualifier<\/em>(informally known as CAF Beach Soccer Championship), in 2015, CAF became organisers and began using the BSAFCON title to which the competition was officially renamed the next year. \u00a0Overall, this will be the 10th edition of the event.
