USPA Condemns FUFA President Magogo\u2019s Remarks on Sports Journalists<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) has strongly condemned the recent statements made by FUFA President Moses Magogo regarding sports journalists, calling them demeaning and disrespectful to the profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement released on March 31, 2025, USPA expressed concern over Magogo\u2019s assertion that journalists who highlight the high cost of matchday tickets at Namboole gain free access to matches, as well as his claims that a “hit gang”<\/strong> of about 10 individuals is being paid to position themselves as advocates of fairness in journalism.“<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

USPA, a body dedicated to professionalism and ethical sports reporting, emphasized that the media plays a critical role in informing the public, highlighting achievements, and holding stakeholders accountable. The association noted that such remarks from a senior football administrator undermine the essential function of sports journalists and could create unnecessary divisions between FUFA and the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Disparaging remarks against journalists only serve to create unnecessary divisions and hinder progress. We believe that mutual respect and collaboration between FUFA and the media are crucial for the growth of the sport,”<\/em> <\/strong>the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sports journalists’ body further revealed that they are engaging FUFA over the matter, with hopes of resolving the issue amicably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This development comes at a time when Ugandan football is facing intense scrutiny, particularly regarding match ticket pricing and transparency in FUFA\u2019s operations. The media remains a crucial bridge between football authorities and fans, and USPA\u2019s stance reinforces the need for open dialogue and respect between journalists and football administrators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
