Kampala, Uganda – KCCA FC started their StarTimes Uganda Premier League season on a high note, clinching a 1-0 victory against URA FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
The breakthrough came in the 30th minute when Saidi Mayanja fired a powerful shot into the bottom right corner, capitalizing on a perfectly timed pass from Derrick Nsibambi. The home fans were left in jubilation as KCCA took a well-deserved lead.

Nsibambi nearly doubled the score just 10 minutes later, finding the back of the net, but his effort was ruled offside by the linesman, much to the relief of URA FC.
URA FC came close to leveling the score several times, with the first clear chance arriving in the 13th minute. Nsibambi’s header from a Brian Anukani free kick forced URA’s goalkeeper, Meddie Ochan, into a critical save, keeping the visitors in the game.
In the 37th minute, URA’s Namanya made a powerful long-range attempt, but KCCA’s Mugolofa was up to the task, pushing the effort out for a corner.
The second half saw even more pressure from URA , especially in the 49th minute, when Bwangani found himself with a glorious opportunity inside the box, only for his shot to hit the side netting.
Namanya continued to push for an equalizer, hitting the post in the 61st minute, but KCCA held firm to secure the win.
This victory adds to KCCA’s recent dominance over URA FC, having previously won 3-2 in their last meeting at the same venue. As KCCA FC fans celebrate the bright start to the season, the team will look to build on this momentum as the league progresses.
