AFCON U-20 – Senegal advance to the knockout stage as Nigeria earn first victory
Thursday – Senegal secured their spot in the knockout stages with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Mozambique.
Skipper Pape Diallo completed a brace and Pape Diob scored the other to help the West Africans become the first nation to progress to the round of 16.

Papa Diallo broke the deadlock for Senegal from a rebound when Lamine Camara’s shot was punched right at his feet by Mozambique goalie Fasistencio Faza.
Pape Diob doubled the Lions of Teranga’s lead through another rebound when he guided the ball past the keeper following Diallo’s ferocious effort that came off the far post.
Diallo, who was voted man of the match, put the icing on the cake with a delightful header to complete his brace and Senegal’s third goal of the evening.

Senegal have played in three consecutive finals at the U20 AFCON: 2015, 2017 and 2019 without ever managing to win the coveted trophy.
