Thursday – The South Sudan U-20 team won their first-ever U-20 Africa Cup of Nations match on Thursday, beating Central African Republic (CAR) 1-0.

South Sudan forward Paul Mara Jawa won and converted a penalty against the Central African Republic (CAR) to secure the Young Bright Stars a hard fought win at the Suez Canal Stadium.

The win revived the East African nation’s chances of progressing into knockout stages after losing their opener to Congo.
The Young Bright Stars take on second placed Uganda in their last Group B match in what will be a repeat of the CECAFA U-20 Championship final which South Sudan lost 2-1.

In the other match, table leaders Congo will play bottom placed Congo Brazzaville to wrap matters in Group B.
