Forget Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar, the richest player in the world is only 21 years

When the question of who the richest player min the world is always comes up, people quickly zero down to Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar. How wrong!

The richest player in the world is only 21 years old. His name is Faiq Bolkiah and he has never played in a major competition. Despite that, he’s the captain of his national team.

Faiq was born on 9 May, 1998 in Los Angeles California, United States.

The offensive midfielder first joined the Southampton youth set up at the age of 11 before signing a two-year contract at Chelsea having enjoyed trials with Arsenal and Reading.

He is currently under contract with the foxes since 2016 but he has never played a professional match. However, he has been loaned away to Portuguese club Mantimo.

Where does his fortune come from?

His riches come from his social status. He is the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei. His fortune is valued at 19 billion dollars. He’s also the son of Prince Jefri, known for being the biggest spender in the world. Jefri may have spent more than 13 billion dollars in his life time.

Faiq’s father owns more than 2,300 luxury cars, 8 Boeing airplanes, 5 yachts, 500 houses and multiple palaces!

He even paid for a private performance by Michael Jackson. How much was this? 17 million dollars, all to entertain his son! Faiq was only 7 at the time…

Faiq is actually nothing like his father. While he could buy a football club, Faiq is determined to succeed through hardwork.

“I have always loved being on the pitch with the ball at my feet. My parents have always helped me to actualize my dream of becoming a football player.”

Today, Faiq is training hard to succeed at his new club Maritimo in Portugal.

“You’ve to train hard to have even the slightest chance of becoming a world class player,” said Faiq during an interview with the Goal.

His story is unique. He’s not playing to become rich, but for his lobe of football.
