HISTORIC HEIST: RSSB Tigers survive game 2 FUS Rabat scare to clinch historic BAL semifinal berth
KIGALI, Rwanda — In a dramatic afternoon that pushed the boundaries of aggregate playoff basketball, local heroes RSSB Tigers survived a fierce second-leg onslaught, bowing out 99-98 against Morocco’s FUS de Rabat, but doing more than enough to clinch a historic first-ever spot in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Semifinals.
The Tigers advanced courtesy of a massive +22 aggregate point advantage, built primarily on the back of an overwhelming 95-72 defensive Masterclass in Game 1. Driven by a roaring home crowd at the BK Arena, the tournament debutants weathered a 99-point offensive explosion from Rabat to secure their ticket to the ultimate final four phase of Africa’s premier club basketball tournament.
Rabat Fires Back with Pride

Entering Game 2 with a towering 23-point deficit, FUS de Rabat played with the absolute desperation of a proud continental heavyweight. Anchored inside by center Mouhamadou Diagne, the Moroccans challenged the Tigers at the rim and forced rapid fast-break conversions.
Rabat’s perimeter shooting kept the arena on edge, ultimately carrying them to a razor-thin 99-98 victory as the final buzzer sounded. Yet, while FUS de Rabat claimed the technical game win on the evening, the celebration belonged exclusively to the local faithful as the math safely favored Rwanda’s finest.
Tigers Lean on Aggregate Cushion

The Tigers’ ticket to the semifinals was truly bought and paid for on Friday night during Game 1. American guard Craig Randall II had turned the BK Arena into his personal shooting gallery, torching Rabat for 38 points including six crucial three-pointers.That 23-point blowout safety net proved to be the ultimate shield in Game 2.
Despite being out-executed in the final moments of the second leg, the combined point total left RSSB Tigers safely ahead by 22 points overall, allowing the home team to comfortably step into the next round.
