21-Year-Old Ugandan Left Back Joins FC Czech First League club Slovan Liberec.
FC Slovan Liberec has announced the acquisition of 21-year-old Ugandan left-back Aziz Kayondo.
Kayondo, who spent the last season on loan at second-division Czech club Vyškov, showcased his skills in Czech competitions despite being limited to five matches due to an injury. He also played in two critical matches in the final playoff against Karviná.
His career so far includes stints in the American MLS Next Pro league with Real Monarchs, as well as in the Israeli league and with Spanish club Leganés.
On the international front, he has been a member of Uganda’s senior team since 2021 and even scored a goal for Uganda Cranes.
Upon joining FC Slovan Liberec, Kayondo expressed his enthusiasm.
“I am very grateful to be here. I look forward to playing for Slovan. The environment here is friendly, and the facilities are very good. I can’t wait for the fans who will support us throughout the season.”
Kayondo described his playing style as an attacking left-back who supports the offensive play and prepares crosses for the team. He emphasized his commitment to the team and his eagerness to fight for every ball.
“Aziz Kayondo really impressed us with his profile and attributes. He has all the prerequisites we require from a player in the position of left-back or wing-back.
It was not easy to negotiate with Leganés for his transfer and to arrange the necessary visas. Therefore, we are glad that we managed to finalize everything and that Aziz can join our team,” commented a representative from FC Slovan Liberec.
