Rogers Mato joins Scottish side Hearts of Midlothian on Loan

Ugandan international forward Rogers Mato has officially completed a loan move to Heart of Midlothian FC the table leaders of Scottish Premiership from North Macedonia’s FK Vardar on an initial six-month loan.
The 22-year-old forward and Hearts have agreed on a permanent move where the forward is expected to pen down a 3 year contract after the expiration of his deal at Vardar this summer.
Through the nurturing from Proline FC, Mato featured for the 13 times Uganda premier league champions KCCA, Sanliufaspor in turkey where he made 5 apps, Ap Brera Strumica in North Macedonia 33 apps and 4 goals.

This season at FK Vardar, he has been on lethal form netting 12 league goals in 13 apps keeping the team at the top of the North Macedonia’s league table.
For the Uganda Cranes National team, Rogers Mato has so far scored 8 goals in 41 apps.
Speaking after sealing the move, an emotional Mato said:
“It feels like a dream come true and I’m pleased to finally be here, the hearts dreams match my dreams.”
He becomes the fourth Ugandan in the history to play for the club joining David Obua(2008-2012), Toby Sibbick (January 2020 to May 2020) and Uche Ikpeazu (2018-2020).
