Vipers SC vying for a Stanbic Uganda Cup double as they face Mbabrara City FC in the Semi finals

The champions of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title with games to play, Vipers SC will attempt to give a memorable season a fitting climax.

The Venoms travel to Mbarara to face Mbarara City at Kakyeka stadium in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup today 11th May 2022.

The second leg will be at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, seven days after the first encounter with coach Roberto Oliviera’s side seeking to win a first league and cup double.

“We are determined to go all out and win today’s game so as to defend our championship.” SC vipers’ Midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga said 

“Mbarara City is a strong team which is always hard to pick results from their home. I’ll base on my team’s experience to get results from them and seal the business at Kitende. Our target is reaching the final and win the trophy.” said Robertinho.

The Ankole lions have had a tough season and were relegated from the top tier to the Fufa Big League this week but remain a force to reckon with.

“We are aware that vipers SC is a strong team but we have the best approach for them thus we know how to get results from them. We have been relegated from the Startimes Uganda premier league & this is one opportunity to give back to our people.” Sadiq Ssempigi Head Coach Mbarara City.

The Venoms eliminateda Wakiso giants FC (3-1) to qualify to the the semi-finals.

Mbarara City eliminated Mbale Heroes(1-0) to make it to the semi finals 

Team News: 

Vipers SC 

Disan Galiwango is back in the 18 man squad after missing Saturday’s game against SC Villa through suspension having accumulated three yellow cards. 

Hilary Mukundane is cap-tied having played for Mbarara City FC in the round of 64 before making his transfer to join the Kitende based side in the January transfer window.

Apart from the longer term injuries, they are all in. No Ibrahim Orit, No Fabien Mutombora, the rest are available. A big squad of 18 players are available to face

Goal keeper Elungat Martin, Pistis Barenge and  Seiri are back to the squad.
