Joshua Cheptegei hopeful for another Medal in the Men’s 5000M Finals
1 min readJoshua Cheptegei looks to secure another medal as he races against top athletes in Oregon on Monday.
If Chepetegi wins, he will become the third man in history to win a double in long-distance running.
Chepetegi will be on track alongside Ugandan Oscar Chelimo who finish first in the heat.
Cheptegei finished fourth in heat one, clocking a time of 13:24.47.
Oscar Chemilo crossed the line first with a time of 13:24.24, Selemon Barega finished third with 13:24.44.
Barega who came third last week in the 10000m Finals looks to revenge against Cheptegei.
Cheptegei will look to break away from the pack of strong Ethiopians and Kenyans runners such as Edris Muktar, Selemon Barega, Jacob Krop and Daniel Ebenyo to win.
The 12 and a half lap race will have fifteen men from nine different countries.
The numerical advantage is with the Ethiopians and Kenyans runners who have six runners in the Final.
It will be a tough race for the Ugandan duo but Cheptegei is positive of a good finish.
The final will start at 04:05Hrs Local Time in Kampala.
