The Cricket Cranes were this morning flagged off for the inaugural Continent Cup T20 set to take place from 7th – 21st June in Nairobi, Kenya. The team was flagged by Katende David, Assistant General Secretary of the National Council of Sports (NCS).
The squad made up of 14 players is led by captain Brian Masaba. The tournament will feature four countries; Uganda, Rwanda, Botswana and hosts Kenya.

“As a team we haven’t played the T20 matches for over six months so it’s been a while but we have prepared well enough and we are ready to hit the road running and we start building momentum towards the World Cup Qualifiers.” Said Head Coach Lawrence Mahatlane.
According to Denis Musali, the Head of communications at Uganda Cricket Association, the tournament will be a preparation for the Cricket World Cup due in November.

“The tournament will help Uganda to prepare for the world cup finals that will happen in November, this competition has teams that we shall play against in the finals come November.
“We also intend to give opportunity to the new guys on the team to see how their performance will be, and we hope for the best.” he concluded.
