16 African Clubs Confirmed for the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Group Stage

The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League is gearing up for its highly anticipated Group Stages after a thrilling conclusion to the Preliminary rounds. Africa’s top 16 football clubs are ready to battle it out on the grandest stage, with fans eager to witness the best of the continent’s footballing talent.

Following two fiercely contested Preliminary rounds, 58 CAF-licensed clubs from across Africa competed for a coveted spot, and now, the elite 16 have been confirmed. These clubs will soon be drawn into four groups of four at the official Group Stage draw, set to take place on Monday, 07 October 2024, at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo.

Reigning Champions Lead the Charge

Leading the charge are Al Ahly SC, record title holders and reigning champions, eager to defend their crown. They are joined by Espérance Sportive de Tunis, last season’s runners-up, both clubs hungry for another chance at glory.

Football heavyweights like Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Raja Casablanca are all in the mix, ready to continue their dominance, while new faces such as Sagrada Esperanca of Angola make their return to the competition after an 18-year absence.
