Caesar Okhuti: One More Lap as a Player-Coach for Onduparaka FC

West Nile, Uganda – Veteran striker Samson Caesar Okhuti has come out of retirement once again to don the green of Onduparaka FC for another season. Known for his resilience and experience, Okhuti believes his football journey isn’t quite over and is determined to help the Caterpillars return to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL).

Having retired at Arua Hill SC after playing a crucial role in promoting the club to the UPL, Okhuti shifted gears into coaching, even earning his CAF C coaching badge. However, his passion for the game lured him back onto the pitch. After a brief stint with St. Leo FC in the fourth division, Okhuti found his way to Onduparaka FC, stepping into the role of head coach.

Despite reports of fatigue during the 2023/24 season, where he struggled to maintain his form as both coach and player, Okhuti’s fighting spirit remained undeterred. This season, he’s ready to prove that he still has more to offer both as a coach and a player, eyeing a return to the UPL and possibly a top scorer title.

The 33-year-old’s return raises the question of whether he can balance the immense pressure of leading the team from the touchline and still deliver goals on the pitch. With Ahmed Borini, his former Arua Hill teammate, leaving Onduparaka for Police FC, Okhuti’s leadership will be more crucial than ever as he embarks on his second season as a player-coach.
