Ugandan forward Denis Omedi enjoyed a dream debut for APR FC, scoring from the penalty spot in their 2-0 victory over Emmanuel Okwi’s AS Kigali in the Heroes Cup semifinals on Tuesday.
Omedi, a January signing, confidently converted from 12 yards to put APR FC ahead before substitute Ramadhan Niyibizi sealed the win in the 70th minute.
Former SC Villa forward Hakim Kiwanuka also made his first appearance for APR FC, starting alongside Omedi before both were substituted in the 75th minute, along with Lamine Bah.

Veteran forward Emmanuel Okwi played the full match for AS Kigali but couldn’t inspire a comeback for his side, while fellow Ugandan international Taddeo Lwanga remained on the bench for APR FC.
APR FC will now face Police FC in the final after Allan Kateregga, Ashraf Mandela, and Eric Ssenjobe’s side edged past Rayon Sport in a dramatic 3-1 penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Kateregga and Mandela featured in the starting lineup for Police FC, while Ssenjobe was not in the matchday squad.
With Omedi and Kiwanuka making an instant impact, APR FC will be optimistic about securing silverware in the final against a Police FC side featuring several Ugandan stars.
