Nicholas Natuhereza Appointed Gazelles Head Coach Ahead of FIBA Zone V Qualifiers.

Nicholas Natuhereza, formerly the assistant coach for the Gazelles, has been promoted to head coach. He succeeds Goran Lojo, who has taken up a new opportunity with Great Britain.

Nasser Sserunjogi, President of the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA), expressed confidence in Natuhereza’s ability to lead the team to success.“

Nick Natuhereza will head the Gazelles at the upcoming FIBA Zone V Qualifiers in Cairo,” Sserunjogi stated.

“While Goran Lojo was originally set to lead the team, he has moved on to another opportunity, and we wish him all the best. We believe Nick’s experience and knowledge will guide the team to great results.”

Natuhereza’s coaching staff includes Julius Lutwama as assistant coach and Ben Komakech, a renowned figure in Ugandan basketball, as the team’s video analyst.

Expressing his excitement about the new role, Natuhereza said, “I accept the challenge. It’s always an honor to step into this position. Hopefully, we can achieve great things and secure qualification for the AfroBasket.”

The Gazelles will begin their preparations on Tuesday, January 21, 2024, as they gear up for the FIBA Zone V Qualifiers. FUBA remains optimistic about the team’s potential under Natuhereza’s leadership and the expertise of his technical team.
