Uganda Premier League Returns Title Race Heats Up In Second Leg.

The Uganda Premier League (UPL) is back, and the race for the 2024-2025 title is heating up! The second leg of the season promises intense battles, high-stakes drama, and unexpected twists as teams fight for glory.

The league officially restarts on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, with two blockbuster clashes. Wakiso Giants will host SC Villa at Kabaka Kyabbagu Stadium at 4 PM, setting the stage for a fierce contest.

Later, under the floodlights at St. Mary’s Stadium, Vipers SC will go head-to-head with URA FC at 7 PM, a match expected to deliver fireworks.

One of the most highly anticipated encounters will be NEC FC vs KCCA FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. Both sides are desperate to make a statement, making this a must-watch showdown.

The mid-season transfer window has been a whirlwind, with teams making strategic moves to either reinforce their squads or recover from key departures.

Lugazi FC – Sitting 12th with 14 points, they’ve made major signings to avoid relegation after a rough start to the season.

Mbale Heroes – Made a bold move, signing 11 new players to revive their campaign.

Wakiso Giants – Struggled in the first leg with just 9 points in 14th place. They’ve signed Fazil Tumwine and are reportedly closing in on Moses Oloya to boost their attack.

Soltilo Bright Stars – The biggest losers of the transfer window, as Asharf Mulindi joined SC Villa, and Marvin Youngman returned to Vipers SC. Already in the relegation zone, they now face an uphill battle to survive.

Beyond UPL fixtures, teams will also juggle the Uganda Stanbic Cup and the FUFA Drum tournament, making squad depth crucial in the coming months.

The battle for top scorer is just as fierce as the title race between Allan Okello who leads the chart with 11 goals and Ivan Ahimbisibwe with 9 goals.
