Ugandan teenage winger Abbas Kioni has officially signed with Ceramica Cleopatra Club, marking a significant step in his burgeoning career. The former SC Villa standout is set to bring his dynamic playing style and creativity to the Egyptian Premier League champions, who have secured the League Cup title for the second consecutive year.

19-year-old Kioni, known for his speed and agility on the right flank, offers a fresh option for Ceramica Cleopatra as they aim to defend their title and make a deeper impact in domestic and continental competitions. Founded in 2006 and owned by the Cleopatra Group under Mohamed M. Abou El Enein, Ceramica Cleopatra has quickly risen through the ranks to establish itself in the top tier of Egyptian football.
Prior to his move to Egypt, Kioni showcased his talent on the international stage, representing Uganda in the U20 Men’s National Football team during the African Games 2023. His performance was pivotal in Uganda’s journey, where he not only scored the opening goal in a crucial comeback against DR Congo but also provided two assists. His contributions were instrumental in leading the team to the finals against hosts Ghana, where Uganda narrowly lost 1-0.

Kioni’s football journey began at UPDF FC, where he played from July 2022 until July 2023, before joining SC Villa for a brief yet impactful spell from July 2023 to August 2024.
