Michael Carrick and Thomas Tuchel share the spoils.

2 min read

Manchester United always knew it wasearly always going to be a huge battle at Stafford Bridge. Two opportunities for the blues for both Hudson Odoi and Ziyech, United could barely hangon as some fans were already questioning Micheal Carrick’s squad mainly due to the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. Early heroics by David De gea managed to keep the hosts at bay but for how long, only time would tell.

Both teams huffed and puffed with Chelsea getting more attempts , as a tame Bruno Fernandez attempt was United’s first from miles away as Rudiger rattled the crossbar. A sustained first half came to an end with neither side being able to find the decisive breakthrough. Jadon sancho’s glorious chance went begging as United showed their threat of counters.

The second half started with a shook Jorginho mistake leaving Jadon Sancho to pounce with Rashford as an option which left Mendy puzzled creating a gap for the former to smuggle it at the near post. However Jorginho was given an opportunity to make amends as a Wan Bissaka foul on Thiago Silver saw the blues awarded a penalty that he expertly converted.

United’s dream lead wiped away, Chelsea looked to strengthen their lead at the top of the Premier league table with Lukaku coming off the bench but the best opportunity came as a loose ball by Edouard Mendy that befell Fred saw a poor lob let the former off the hook.

In a nutshell, a draw was the fair score as neither of the two created enough goal threatening opportunities to win the match.
