Tuesday – The FIBA Zone V AfroBasket Women Qualifiers came to an end on Sunday.

Egypt defeated Uganda 74-65 to qualify for the Women’s Afrobasket Tournament 2023 that will take place in Kigali, Rwanda.

However, just like Kenya and DR Congo in 2019 while Central African Republic in 2017, the Gazelles may play at the 2023 FIBA Afrobasket through a Wild Card.

Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) President Nasser Sserunjoji was awarded for ensuring the smooth running of the Zone V Afrobasket Women qualifiers.

Kenya’s Madina Okot was awarded the best rebounder award while Egypt’s Nadine Mohammed Soliman picked up the best three point shooter award.

Raneem Elgedawy of Egypt was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament after averaging 19.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
