AFCON Beach Soccer: Sand cranes start off with a loss

The Uganda sand cranes lost their first game of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 5-1 to Senegal.

Goals from Kawalulo Isma, Royal Mendy (2), and Ninou Diatta Babacas Fah (2) were enough to sink the cranes.

This was match day 1 of Group A. The sand cranes are appearing in the competition for the first time. The games will also be used to select teams for the Beach Soccer World Cup.

The West African side led throughout the three 20 minutes per-quarter duration of the physical contest.

Uganda Sand Cranes only have hours before they play their second match on Monday, 24th May 2021 against neighbours Tanzania.
