AFCON U-20: Uganda Cranes pitted against South Sudan

As fate would have it, Uganda Cranes were pitted in the same group as neighbors South Sudan for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Egypt 2023.

AFCON Egypt 2023 is the 23rd edition of the tournament with North , and it has already taken shape with the group stage draw that took place on Sunday.

12 teams will participate in the tournament, without defending champions Ghana.

The draw took place in Cairo, Egypt on Friday evening.

Uganda together with South Sudan, Central African Republic and Congo Brazzaville have been placed in Group B.

Jackson Mayanja us optimistic his side will do well in the tournament.

“We are placed in a tricky group because there is no team to be underrated. We played South Sudan in the qualifiers and they know us well,” said Mayanja.

Group A: (Cairo Stadium) – Egypt, Mozambique, Senegal, Nigeria

Group B: (Suez Stadium) – Uganda, Central African Republic, South Sudan, Congo Brazzaville

Group C: (Alexandria Stadium) – Gambia, Tunisia, Benin, Zambia
