African Stars Shine in Manchester United’s Premier League Squad

Manchester United has officially released their squad list for the Premier League, and it features a compelling roster of African talent that promises to add flair and dynamism to the team’s campaign. With the club gearing up for their post-international break match against Southampton, the spotlight is on several standout African players who are set to make their mark this season.

Spotlight on African Talent

Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco)
The Moroccan defender, Noussair Mazraoui, joins Manchester United with a reputation for his solid defensive skills and versatility. At 26 years old, Mazraoui has already made an impact by featuring in all three of Manchester United’s matches since his arrival.

Known for his spectacular performances with Bayern Munich and the Moroccan national team, Mazraoui is expected to bring stability and experience to United’s backline. His ability to play both as a full-back and a central defender provides Erik ten Hag with valuable tactical flexibility.

Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast)
Ivorian winger Amad Diallo is back in the squad after showcasing his potential in previous seasons. Diallo completed a move to Manchester United from Atalanta in the January transfer window of 2021. Following loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland, Diallo was part of United’s 2023 USA tour squad before suffering a serious injury that kept him out of the first half of the 2023/24 season.

His return saw a dramatic moment in March, when he scored an extra-time winner to propel Manchester United into the FA Cup semi-final, a competition they eventually won against Manchester City. Amad joined Manchester United for the 2024/25 pre-season and performed exceptionally well, earning the manager’s trust to be included in the club’s squad for the new season. He scored the only goal in United’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton, signaling his significant role in the team’s future.

Sekou Kone (Ivory Coast)

Another promising talent from the Ivory Coast, Sekou Kone, is among the young players registered for the season. Kone, who joined Manchester United on August 30, 2024, mainly plays as a defensive midfielder. Known for his ball-winning skills and stamina, Kone is adept at tracking back and disrupting opposition play while also contributing to attacking moves. His explosive and energetic displays have drawn comparisons to former Manchester City and Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Touré by African media.
