Betpawa Partners with FUBA to Boost Ugandan Basketball
This partnership serves as a significant boost to the senior national basketball teams, which have frequently faced challenges participating in international tournaments due to financial constraints.
Betpawa, a prominent African gaming company, has forged a valuable sponsorship deal with the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA), announced on Wednesday.
The partnership, valued at Shs2.6b (over USD 600,000) over three years, encompasses support for both the men’s (Silverbacks) and women’s (Gazelles) teams, covering expenses such as travel, accommodation, training, and medical insurance.
In addition, players will receive Shs150,000 for every game won, with immediate deposits. State Minister for Sport Peter Ogwang expressed government support for the partnership, emphasizing potential tax reductions for gaming and lottery sectors to further support sports development.
Spencer Okach, Chief Brand Officer of BetPawa, highlighted the company’s commitment to elevating basketball by prioritizing player welfare and infrastructure enhancement.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward for Ugandan basketball, ensuring greater opportunities for national teams to compete on the international stage.
