CAF Suspends Tanzania’s Coach Amidst Accusations Against Moroccan Football Federation

1 min read

Tanzania’s Taifa Stars head coach, Adel Amrouche, has been suspended by CAF amid a televised interview where he accused Morocco’s Football Federation (FRMF) of “manipulating” African football.

Despite the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Amrouche faces an eight-match ban and has withdrawn from AFCON.

In the interview, he claimed FRMF forced them to play in the evening instead of the early afternoon, stating that Morocco “manages and determines everything in African football.”

The controversial remarks preceded Tanzania’s match against Morocco, resulting in a 3-0 loss.

The Tanzanian Football Federation has appointed Amrouche’s assistant, Hemed , as the interim head coach for the remaining AFCON matches, starting with a game against Zambia.
