Arua city – Newly appointed Onduparaka FC head coach Mawa Haruna has refuted claims that he has left the club.
Media reports recently alleged that the gaffer parted ways with the West Nile based StarTimes Uganda Premier League side.
Mawa, alongside other club officials, are said to be planning friendlies (in Kampala) for the club ahead of the new season which commences on September 30.
Onduparaka FC announced the appointment of Haruna as the new head coach in July, replacing Dudu Bosco who oversaw the club’s survival from relegation on interim basis. The CAF A licensed tactician signed a one-year contract with the caterpillars.
Shortly after, the club also announced the appointment of CAF B certified Hamza Kalanzi as assistant coach on one year renewable contract.
The club will begin their league campaign on Saturday 1 October away at Nakisunga Saza Ground – Mukono as they take on URA FC.
The club’s first five home games; SC Villa, Express FC, Busoga United, Wakiso Giants and KCCA FC will be played at Bombo Military Barracks Ground. This after Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) dismissed the club’s appeal against the five match home-ban.
“The Appeals Committee is dismissing the appeal, it based on a variety of factors, notably the seriousness of Onduparaka FC and its fans repeatedly committing acts of hooliganism, whenever the results are not in their favor………
“Consequently, the appeal filed by Onduparaka FC did not succeed and as a result the decisions and sanctions passed by the Competitions Disciplinary Panel on 14th June 2022 is maintained in its entirety.” FUFA statement partly read.
