Finally! Onduparaka beat UPDF 5-1 to secure first league win of the season
Wednesday – Onduparaka FC beat UPDF FC 5-1 to claim their first win of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season thanks to first-half strikes by Abonga Dominic and Oketch’s [penalty] and a second half hattrick from Ojara at Greenlight stadium on Wednesday.
Prior to the win against the army side, Onduparaka had not won a game but forward Abonga began the process of erasing that record with his first goal of the season in the 15th minute, cancelling out Katende’s opener.
Okech added a second in the 43rd minute through a spot kick.
Ojara who has been used mostly as a defender by Mawa Haruna and Hamza Kalanzi started upfront under new head coach Steven Bogere.
The lanky striker paid back Bogere’s trust with three goals in 20 minutes. He opened his account in the 55th minute. Five minutes later, he added a second before completed his hattrick and the caterpillars fifth goal of the evening in the 75th minute.
Onduparaka have now gunnered 7 points after 14 games, and are just 2 points off Busoga United and 3 points behind UPDF FC.
