1 min readGaddafi FC are very close to completing the signing of goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa from Express FC.
Waswa Bbosa had made strengthening the goalkeeping position a priority this transfer window and he identified Mutakubwa as his ideal choice for the number one spot.
In July 2021, Express signed Mutakubwa on a two-year deal as a direct replacement for Mathias Muwanga who joined Onduparaka FC and subsequently became the club’s first choice goalkeeper ahead of Denis Otim and Chrispus Kusiima. The deal was orchestrated by Waswa Bbosa having worked with the goalkeeper at Tooro United FC.
The Uganda cranes ranks highly among local goalkeepers in the country. However, his popularity declined of late after betting and match fixing rumours in recent times.
Modern FC have already acquired the services of former Tooro United and Express FC striker Charles Musige, left-full-back Sadiq Ssekyembe from Express, former Police FC attacking midfielder Johnson Odongo, former Bright Stars, Kyetume and Arua Hill SC defender Dan Birikwalira, former SC Villa centre back Shafiq Bakaki, defender Kiyemba Ibrahim, and former Express holding midfielder Mahad Yaya Kakooza.
Waswa Bbosa signed a one year contract with Modern FC and said he wants to transform Gaddafi into a competitive side fighting for trophies.
