Gerald Hamilton returns to win in Suzuka
After a tough race out in Jeddah that so him crash out in the first laps of the race, Gerald Hamilton of Hot Wheels Racing E-Sports team bounced back and showed why he is the defending champion.
After failing to secure pole by two tenths of a second, Bismak of Aru Dem sat pretty on pole, with Gerald in second, Njathi of Rabsports in third, Beewol of Najjera Gardens in fourth, Ghost of NBS in fifth and Benjamin of Meraki Karting not finishing Quali again, for the third straight time.
Bismak had a stellar start with a strange strategy as he started on softs, creating a four second gap on Gerald who had jumped Njathi early on.
A safety car saw Bismak’s strategy get countered as both Gerald and Njathi picked up cheap pitstops, lining up behind the Aru Dem driver, who had not pitted yet.
With 7 laps to go, Another safety car was brought out as Benjamin of Meraki spun again, which saw the cars line up behind Gerald Hamilton, with Bismak second and Njathi third, but the Rab Sports driver hit Bismak and lost his front wing, which cost him a shot at the win in Suzuka.
It was left to be a two man horse race for the win as Bismak and Gerald went wheel to wheel in what was a race for the ages, but this saw Bismak spin with two laps to go and Gerald picked up the bones and went on to see the checkered flag for his second win in three laps.
