Journey man Savio Kabugo finds rest at FUFA Big League side Lugazi FC

  • 28-year-old defender has signed one-year deal with ‘The Leaders.
  • Former Uganda Cranes defender was released by Jwaneng Galaxy FC in Botswana. 

Lugazi FC have announced the signing of free agent Savio Kabugo on a one-year deal.

The 28-year-old defender was released by Jwaneng Galaxy in October 2022 and has joined ‘The Leaders’ following his failure to find a club at the top tier.

The striker tweeted: “This is not a light transfer in my life i discussed with my family before accepting this great move and for sure it’s the best decision we have made to join the ever green Lugazi FC I thank my good lord and can’t wait to get started.”

Savio Kabugo, who started his career at Victoria University, also played for KCCA FC, URA FC, Proline FC, SC Villa, Congolese football club AS Vita, Ethiopian club Sebeta City and the recent one, Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana.

Lugazi FC gained promotion to the StarTimes FUFA Big League after beating Kajjansi United FC 1-0 in the Buganda Regional League final played on Thursday 16th, June 2022 at Kavumba Recreational Ground.

‘The leaders’ finished tenth on the table in their maiden season in the league and are looking to improve on that in the coming campaign.

Asides Savio Kabugo, the club has also signed defender Latif Kiyemba, striker Samuel Ssemugugu, forward Ronald Ssempala, Birungi Alvin, James Okiror, Solomon Akodi, goalkeeper Opio Abraham, Mungudit Freedom, Mitala Mubarak, Andrew Odong and Samulel Nsubuga who became the first signing of ‘The leaders.’
