Mbarara City FC qualify to the last 4 in the 48th stanbic Uganda cup

Henry Kitegenyi’s late winner was the only goal that saw Mbarara City FC qualify to the semifinals of the 48th Stanbic Uganda cup as they eliminated Mbale Heroes FC on Wednesday 27th April 2022 at Kakyeka Stadium.

The Ankole Lions earned a hard-fought win over visiting Mbale Heroes to storm the semifinals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup for the first time.

Kitegenyi Henry scored a stunner goal of the game that helped Mbarara City to progress to the next stage.

He scored the decisive goal two minutes to the end of the match. The ankole lions  defended their goal till the center referee blew the final whistle and this earned them a spot in the semi finals.

Mbarara city  now joins the only regional league side still in the competition, Booma FC, from Kitara region. The other semifinalists are Vipers SC who are the current holders and BUL FC, the losing finalists from last year.

The semifinal draws will be conducted by FUFA on a date yet to be communicated.
